2014 Renato Buganza Roero Riserva DOCG
100% Nebbiolo. Piobesi d'Alba, Guarene d'Alba (Cuneo) Piedmont, on chalky marl soils at 270 m above sea level with south-westerly exposure. 18 months maturation in oak casks after which the new wine is decanted and left to rest for three months then bottled. After six months in the bottle, it is put on the market. More than 10 years cellaring potential.
Deep ruby red with slight purple hues. Very rich and complex with scents of red fruit, violet, confectionery, vanilla, withered rose, undergrowth, liquorice and spices. A ripe entry leads to a grippy full-bodied palate with a good alcoholic kick and ripe fruit (plum, blackberries). Long-lasting and harmonious finish with soft, balanced tannins.
Perfect with game, red meat dishes and cheese or simply alone as a meditation wine.
