Umbria

Umbria is a small region located in the very heart of Italy. Although its more famous neighbour, Tuscany, has historically overshadowed it, in recent years Umbrian wines have been experiencing a renaissance and growing success within the wine world.
The most common white indigenous grapes are Grechetto and Trebbiano Spoletino. Sagrantino is Umbria’s most characteristic native red grape. It is inky purple with an almost-black centre, powerful and highly tannic and requires at least 30 months ageing before release. Montefalco Rosso is a more medium bodied blend of Sangiovese, Barbera and Sagrantino grapes.
